Laying the Groundwork in Torma Bum: On January 11, 2025, a field
mission was undertaken at Torma Bum to assess the progress of field data
collection for the ongoing Rice Yield Studies. The visit aimed to ensure that
data gathering methods aligned with scientific protocols, providing a solid
foundation for evaluating rice production across key farming regions.
Quality Checks in Samu and Mambolo: A week later, the team moved to
Kassirie in Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District, to oversee quality checks and
control measures in the Rice Yield Studies. Yield plots were harvested,
threshed, and winnowed, with samples carefully weighed and moisture
contents recorded. These meticulous steps are essential to maintaining
consistency in the study’s findings. The field team then proceeded to
Mambolo Chiefdom to carry out similar activities, reinforcing the project’s
commitment to accurate and reliable agricultural data collection.
As the team continued their work in Mambolo Chiefdom, they engaged in
supervision for quality data assurance. This visit provided a firsthand look
